“It’s been a pleasure to have been artist in residence at the Abbey Road Studios in Athlone, Westmeath. It has allowed me the space to develop my practice and create works for solo exhibitions the past 3 years. Being part of various winter group shows at the Luan Gallery and culture night open studio events during this time have been wonderful opportunities to share my work.
Themes developed throughout my time have been based on memory more recently “body memory” and how this affects the way we navigate the world which was displayed in a solo “The Body Remembers” at Siamsa Tire, Tralee, Kerry in Sept ’23.
I look forward to continuing my practice and some of the works created in the Abbey Road studio can be seen in my current solo exhibition at The Cowshed Theatre, Farmleigh House, Phoenix Park, Dublin which was launched on Sat 6th July ’24. This new solo exhibition ‘Heavy Stuff, Light Us’, explores humans innate desire to become more minimal beings and be connected with nature versus the constance pull towards materialism. In this collection of work I am asking the question whether we can prompt our bodies to remember a time when were lighter in ‘stuff’ yet richer in spirit. It is always exciting to put the work out into the public realm after time in the studio. Everyone is welcome and it runs Weds-Sun 11-5pm until 28th July 2024.
Thank you Luan Gallery for all your support.”
Dates of Residency in Abbey Road: June 2021 – 2024
