Helen Duncan
Helen Duncan primarily works in ceramic sculpture, while also creating a selection of functional ceramics. She holds a BA in Ceramics from Limerick College of Art and Design, Ireland, and pursued postgraduate studies in Ceramics at the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, as well as an MA in Art Education from Boston University. A native of Athlone, Helen shares her time between her hometown in Ireland and Massachusetts, USA. Her artistic journey is marked by a rich tapestry of exhibitions and installations on both sides of the Atlantic. Helen has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards, including support from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Irish Arts Council, recognizing her innovative contributions to the arts. Through her sculptures and installations, she delves into themes of displacement, resilience, and the intricate equilibrium of the natural world.
Currently in residence at Abbey Road Studios, she is developing a large outdoor commissioned sculpture as well as new work for a gallery exhibition scheduled for late July.
