Kiera O’Toole

Kiera O’Toole

Kiera O’Toole (b. 1977, Dublin) is an Irish artist whose practice centres on drawing as an embodied and spatialised form of inquiry. Through her methodology Drawing in Space (DiSp), she investigates how bodies register the affective conditions of specific places prior to interpretation, tracing how atmosphere, movement and sensation shape the encounter between body and environment.

Kiera’s work takes the form of large-scale wall drawings, collage and experimental animation, produced through sustained in-situ engagement with particular sites.
Her work has been presented nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at Ormston House in collaboration with EVA International (Limerick), Royal Hibernian Academy, CCA Derry~Londonderry, FRISE Hamburg and DAS ESSZIMMER Bonn, Germany and the National Museum of Australia. O’Toole is undertaking doctoral research at Loughborough University and lectures in Fine Art at Atlantic Technological University, Sligo. She co-leads the Drawing deCentered artist collective.
