"Breaking Borders" Exhibition at Luan Gallery

Luan Gallery is pleased to present a group exhibition Breaking Borders featuring artists Nicola Anthony, Trudi van der Elsen, Bernadette Hopkins, Benedict Hutchinson, Myra Jago, Vukašin Nedeljković, and Beata Piekarska Daly.

Breaking Borders aims to explore the intersection of multiple narratives and discourses in the arts.  The exhibition brings together the work of seven artists across a range of disciplines including painting, video, photography, sculpture, and performance, engaging in a mix of conversations with the exhibiting artists through artists’ talks and performance contributions. The group exhibition intends to be an organic project mixing and matching artists from all disciplines to contribute to a national and global conversation about overcoming all sorts of barriers.

Breaking Borders has the potential to become a global and inclusive physical virtual space with no barriers and with a proactive approach to delivering new forms of cultural experiences and tackling the challenges facing the changing landscape of the arts, as a result of socio-political pressures. This future-facing project will be accompanied by a series of onsite and online events, and discussions focused on the perception of a globalised and dislocated life.

The exhibition will open on Saturday 2nd July and continue until Sunday 25th September.  A panel discussion between the exhibiting artists and Curator, Valeria Ceregini will take place at 2pm on Saturday 2nd July and will be chaired by Westmeath Arts Officer, Miriam Mulrennan. This will be followed by an opening reception at 4.30pm and official opening address by Miriam Mulrennan at circa 5pm. All are welcome to attend.
Nicola Anthony, one of the Breaking Borders exhibiting artists will be hosting an Open Studio on Wednesday 29th June at Abbey Road Artists’ Studios as part of her residency. Members of the public and arts community are encouraged to visit Nicola between 12.30pm and 4pm.
